Best Buy to Stock Dell Computers

Not satisfied with Staples and Walmart, Dell is adding Best Buy to their list of retail outlets. Within the next couple of weeks you should start seeing Dell laptops and desktop at your local Best Buy.

Best Buy will be stocking several XPS and Inspiron systems as well as the ‘all new’ XPS One.

Some of the models that you should be able to find are:
Laptops - XPS M1330 in white, the Inspiron 1521 in blue and black, and the Inspiron 1420 in black

Desktops - Dell Inspiron 530, 531, and 531s

XPS One

For me, this is a good move by Dell as it gives us ‘the customer’ to see the product ‘in person’ (providing the costs are the same as ‘online’). Then again, if there is a difference; check it out in the store and buy online.

XPS One from Dell Now Available

For those of you looking for an ‘all in one’ PC but do not want to jump to a Mac. You might be glad to know that you can now purchase the Dell XPS One. Dell has certainly made the XPS One look stunning with its bezel-less 20" display, smoked glass base, and motion sensitive controls that glow when your hand gets close; but then again so is the Apple iMac. Creative HD50 Stereo are Small and Loud

Creative have just announced the GigaWorks HD50 stereo speakers. The GigaWorks HD50 come with titanium super tweeters, two-inch diameter high-definition drivers and built-in BasXPort technology.

The HD50 has been designed to channel sound waves to flow from the inner chamber of the speaker to the soundstage which should improve bass and give a more natural sound.

Measuring just 9.1cm x 7cm x 14.1cm, the HD50 speakers are small in statue; big in sound.

The long awaited news from Apple regarding its new operating system has been released. The Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard will begin shipping on October 26.

Sony BWU-200S Blu-ray Writes Twice as Fast at 4x

Sony have just unveiled there latest Blu-ray writer; the BWU-200S. With a write speed of 4x for BD-R and 16zx for DVD+R, this new model can burn a BD-R disc with 50Gb in around 45 minutes.

The BWU-200S comes with CyberLink BD Solution (software that provides a comprehensive application for capturing, authoring, editing, burning and viewing high-definition personal content captured in the native HDV 1080i format from an HDV camcorder). It will also record on DVDs and CDs, as well as playback of DVDs recorded in the AVCHD format.

The internal drive features a Serial ATA (SATA) interface and standard 5.25-inch form-factor for easy installation inside a desktop PC with Microsoft® Windows® XP or Windows Vista® software.

The BWU-200S drive will be available directly from SonyStyle next month for about $600.

Gateway having just been taken over by Acer are about to unveil there rather cool looking ‘One’ desktop system.

Not 100% certain of the specs etc. as the unveiling is scheduled for tomorrow at the Digital Life Show, but the folks over at Crave are saying that one of the models should spec out like this:

3GB of memory
DVD burner
5-in-1 card reader
Cost around $1800

Other systems will come in around $1300 and $1500

Linksys Debuts Range Plus Home Network Products

Linksys have just unveiled there new RangePlus family of home networking products. The RangePlus family includes; the RangePlus Wireless Router (WRT100), RangePlus Wireless Notebook Adapter (WPC100), RangePlus Wireless PCI Adapter (WMP100), and the RangePlus Wireless USB Notebook Adapter (WUSB100.

The RangePlus family uses Multiple Input, Multiple Output (MIMO) technology to provide greater wireless network coverage (reduces dead spots).

The WRT100 RangePlus Wireless Router comes with Linksys Easy Link Advisor (LELA). LELA helps the user set up a secure wireless network by following simple instructions on their PC. Simply start the application and easily add PC’s, enable security and automatically map the network.

Three New My Book External Drives From Western Digital

Western Digital’s My Book external drive now come in three new editions; My Book Home Edition, My Book Office Edition, and My Book Essential Edition 2.0. All three come with USB 2.0 and the Home Edition gets FireWire 400 and eSATA. Storage capacity range from 320GB to 1TB. They come with backup features and SmartPower (that automatically powers the drive on and off).

These three new My Books should retail for $129.99 to $379.99 depending on model and capacity.

Yamaha NX-U02 USB Powered Speaker

Yamaha have just released a new USB powered speaker; the NX-U02. This single speaker contains two speakers that give you stereo sound from the single box. Yamaha uses a PowerStorage circuit that allows for 20W (2 x 10W) of power from a USB speaker.

The NX-U02 includes Yamaha’s exclusive SR-Bass technology, to give a rich bass sound and the unit is available in black, white or red. Should be available next month.
